Navigating therapy, insurance, and whether a therapist is actually going to get you — it's a lot. We've answered the questions we hear most. And yes, we tried to make it less painful than an insurance hold queue.
Easy — you can book directly through our online scheduling portal, schedule a free 15-minute Vibe Check first (highly recommended if you're not sure where to start), or call us at 440-202-9109. We'll figure out the best fit from there.
It's a free 15-minute phone or video call — no paperwork, no commitment. Just a quick conversation to see if we're a good fit before you dive into the deep end. Think of it as a first date but less awkward and with better outcomes.
You can schedule yours here.
The first session is your Grand Tour — we'll explore what's bringing you in, what you've tried before, what your goals are, and what kind of support you're actually looking for. No deep dives required on day one unless you want to. Think of it as a really intentional getting-to-know-you conversation.
In most cases, no — you can reach out directly and we'll handle the rest. If your specific insurance plan requires a referral, we'll let you know during the intake process. When in doubt, just ask us and we'll help you figure it out.
We work with adolescents (ages 12 and up) and adults for individual therapy. Group therapy is generally for adults and older adolescents — reach out to ask about specific group offerings and age ranges.
In-person sessions are available at 91 Grand Valley Ave. Unit D, Orwell, Ohio 44076 — please note there is a set of stairs to access the office. If you need physical accommodations, just let us know in advance and we'll work with you.
Virtual (telehealth) sessions via Doxy.me are available to anyone physically located in Ohio or Pennsylvania at the time of their session. So if you're anywhere in either state — you're good.
Individual sessions are typically 50-55 minutes. Group sessions vary in length depending on the group format. If you'd like to adjust your session length, just talk to your clinician in advance — and heads up, late arrivals still end at the scheduled time.
Most clients start with weekly sessions while building momentum, then taper based on goals and progress. We're not in the business of keeping you on our schedule indefinitely — we want you thriving and eventually not needing us. That's actually the goal.
We ask for at least 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. Life happens — we genuinely get it — but late cancellations and no-shows result in a $75 fee. Insurance doesn't cover missed appointment fees, so that one lands on you regardless of your plan.
Genuine emergencies communicated by end of day may be waived at your clinician's discretion. For the full policy see our Financial Policy.
We accept Medicaid, a range of private and commercial insurance plans, and self-pay. Coverage varies by plan and clinician — the best way to confirm is to call us at 440-202-9109 or email hello@renewalroom.biz and we'll help verify your benefits so you're not left guessing.
Jessica Fisher Cross, LISW-S: $150 per session (individual) · $150 initial intake · $15 group session · $50 monthly group bundle
Ariel E. Braff, LSW: $100 per session (individual) · $115 initial intake · $15 group session · $50 monthly group bundle
Reduced rates may be available on a case-by-case basis at each clinician's discretion based on financial need. If cost is a barrier, please talk to your clinician directly. For the full fee schedule see our Good Faith Estimate.
Self-pay is always an option, and reduced rates may be available at your clinician's discretion. We believe care should be accessible — reach out and we'll talk through what works for your situation. If we can't accommodate you, we'll connect you with resources that can.
No — group therapy at Renewal Room is self-pay only. Insurance claims are not submitted for group participation. Sessions are $15 per session or $50 for a monthly bundle that reserves your spot for all sessions that month.
That's kind of our specialty. Renewal Room was built specifically for people who've tried traditional therapy and felt like it didn't land. We do things differently — no scripts, no one-size-fits-all approaches, and zero tolerance for hollow affirmations. If therapy hasn't worked before, we'd genuinely love to talk about why and what might actually help.
Yes — what you share in therapy stays in therapy, with standard legal and ethical exceptions. Those include situations involving imminent safety concerns (risk to yourself or others), suspected child or elder abuse, or a valid court order. We take confidentiality seriously and will walk you through our privacy practices before we begin. Full details are in our Privacy Policy & HIPAA Notice.
Great question — and one we actually talk about openly with clients. Progress in therapy can look like: feeling more equipped to handle hard stuff, noticing patterns you didn't before, having better conversations, or just feeling less like you're barely holding it together. We check in regularly to make sure the work is actually moving the needle for you.
Please do not wait for your next session. Renewal Room is not a crisis service. If you are in immediate danger, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. For mental health crises, call or text 988 (National Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line). These are available 24/7.
You can also find local and state crisis resources on our Emergency Contact Information page.
Ariel E. Braff, LSW is a Licensed Social Worker working toward independent licensure under the clinical supervision of Jessica Fisher Cross, LISW-S. This is a standard and required part of the Ohio licensure process — it means Ariel's clinical work is reviewed and overseen by Jess, which is actually a built-in quality check for your care.
Ariel's reduced session rate reflects her supervised status. It's a great option if you're looking for high-quality, evidence-based care at a lower cost.
Renewal Room may use HIPAA-compliant AI tools to support administrative and clinical documentation processes — things like session notes or summaries. Your identifying information is always protected. All clinical decisions are made solely by your licensed clinician. You can ask your clinician about how AI is used in your care at any time.
We're real humans. Just reach out! Email us at hello@renewalroom.biz, call 440-202-9109, or submit a message through our contact form. We don't bite. Probably.
